One of my favorite things about the first year of my baby’s life is celebrating their first major holiday.

I know it’s something they will ever remember – but I sure do, and they are memories I never forget.

Before I even got pregnant with Andrew, I created some “Baby’s First Holiday” designs in Design Space. I only hoped and prayed that I would be able to use them with my own baby!

Thankfully, sweet Andrew was born this last September – just in time for the biggest holidays of the year.

We’ve celebrated Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas – and they’ve all been so fun.

Despite having these designs for longer than he’s even been around, I didn’t get my stuff together in time to get the Halloween one done….I did make this adorable Mandrake Onesie, though!

I did get my stuff together before Thanksgiving, and he wore the Thanksgiving onesie then. It was my favorite one, so I was excited to have him wear that one first.

I wanted to make this Design Space file public for all of you to use. Some of the design elements are Cricut Access files, so if you aren’t a current subscriber – you will need to pay for them.

This would make for a great Cricut baby shower gift. It is a little time intensive because they are so many different colors of iron-on used, but it’s well worth the effort.

First of all – here is the Design Space file! You should be able to open it from this link and edit it directly. Again, some elements are paid/Access files.

You can change colors, fonts, etc. to your liking.

When I was working with the Thanksgiving one, I made the mistake of using glitter iron-on as the turkey, and I didn’t do the knock out method. It was really difficult to get the block eyes and the beak to stick on top of glitter – so remember, glitter should be a top layer UNLESS you are doing the knock out method (links are below on to how to layer HTV).

Onesies I used

You can use whatever baby onesies you want. However, I LOVE Primary.com. I emailed them about featuring their onesies in this project, and they were nice enough to send us a set.

But I have long loved their clothes, and I have used them in many projects in the past. They are super high quality and work with iron-on perfectly!

They usually have some kind of coupon (I think it’s almost always 15% off and free shipping for first-time orders when you sign up for their emails!) Primary.com has plain and simple patterned clothes up to size 12 that work great for vinyl projects.

I used various colors and styles from their bodysuit collection (both in long and short sleeves). It can be hard to estimate exactly what size your baby will be during certain holidays before seeing them. Andrew is bigger than his brothers were at this age, so he’ll be squeezing into his Valentine’s Day shirt in a week or so!

Iron-on Vinyl

I used various kinds of iron-on vinyl from Cricut.com for this project that I had in my WorkBox 3.0.

I had some SportFlex iron on, but that was a bit of mistake with my cotton bodysuits. I had to turn up the heat, press it down for a longtime, and wait quite sometime to peel it off.

Since most bodysuits are going to be cotton, I would suggest sticking to iron-on vinyl that you know will work well with cotton. My person go-tos are Everyday Iron-on and Glitter Iron-on!

Other Supplies I Used:

I used my EasyPress 2 and my EasyPress 2 mat. I just defaulted to my 9×9 EasyPress 2, but if you do a lot of onesies, the smaller 6×7 size might be a good option for you.

You can definitely use your traditional heat press or iron for this project as well.
