Enjoy the spice and flavor of Taco Bell’s chipotle sauce from home. This recipe only has six ingredients, and it so easy to make. Perfect for topping all your tex-mex favorites.
Several years ago, I shared this Taco Bell Potato Soft Taco recipe, and in it, I shared a recipe for their chipotle sauce.
At the time, I tried to make something that was accurate as I could. Many people loved it, but for others it fell short.
So when I saw that Taco Bell was actually selling a bottle version of the sauce at Walmart, I decided to take a look at the ingredients.
I was way off! So I experimented a little bit and came up with a new and improved version that had very similar ingredients to what was listed on the ingredient list for the Walmart bottle!
This is spicy and delicious and super easy to throw together! It’s the perfect topping for the famous Tacos de Papa or Taco Bell’s Potato Soft Tacos, as well as many other dishes!
How do I store this sauce?
You can store this in any air tight container. I would suggest a mason jar or small container if you plan to use it with a spoon. However, if you would like to squeeze/squirt it on the food, I would suggest getting a condiment bottle.
This sauce should be refrigerated.
How long will this sauce last?
When stored properly in the refrigerator, it should last a week or so – possibly longer.
Can I use buttermilk instead of buttermilk powder?
I haven’t done this recipe with regular buttermilk. If you did this, I would just use buttermilk instead of the water. I do not guarantee these results.
Where can I buy taco bell chipotle sauce?
You can buy it at Walmart!
Should I use a blender or food processor?
I find that a food processor is easier for making this recipe in smaller amounts. If you are planning to double or triple this, the blender should handle it great!

Tastes great! Only issue I have is that it’s a little runny. I also added some salt to it.

I’m finding a lot of “Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce”. Would that work?
