Lint Roller
Every crafter/cricutter needs a lint roller in my opinion. You can use it for picking up scraps and pieces of cardstock or vinyl off of your mat.
Salad Dressing Container for Vinyl Scraps
You may have seen this hack using a nail polish container, unfortunately my Dollar Tree doesn’t sell those so I have found that a salad dressing container does the trick just as well!
Cut a few slits on the bottom of the bottle big enough to put your scraps in. While you are working on your project you can put your scraps in quick and easy!
Tool Holder
The Tool Organizer that is sold at the Dollar Tree is a hidden gem and I’m shocked it’s only a dollar. It is easy to assemble and it will hold pens, markers, scissors, etc.
Hooks for Mats
Command Hooks are great for holding up your mat to help keep them cleaner. Simply put your command hooks on the wall and there you have it!
Mat Cleaning
Having a pack of baby wipes from the Baby Tree is a must. You can get them at the Dollar Tree or you can splurge and get a name brand. Sometimes the cheaper wipes don’t get as wet- which is a must for me. I like to scrape off my mat first and then take the baby wipe and wipe it down.
If you have an extra dirty mat I love the L.A.s Totally Awesome Spray. Use the same method as the baby wipes- scrape everything off , spray the LA’s Totally Awesome spray and then use a microfiber towel to wipe down. Don’t forget to re-stick your mat after!

Scraper Dupes
Some Dollar Tree stores have added Cricut Scraper dupes that look just like Cricut- but in their brand- however not all stores have those yet (including mine) so if yours does- grab one and let me know what you think.
In the mean time, here are few scraper ideas instead:
- a sturdy silicone spatula
- wrapping paper cutter
- A shower squeegee
- Stainless Steel Chopper Scraper
Baby Powder
This hack will help you see the lines better when you are weeding projects. You will need baby powder and a cosmetic brush- both can be found at the Dollar Tree.
Simply Sprinkle a little baby powder onto your project (it might get a little messy just FYI) and then use your cosmetic brush to move it around. And then voila! The lines will show up super easily! It’s like magic.
Shower Curtain
Don’t worry- you won’t be taking a shower with your machine! But a basic shower curtain liner works great to use as another sheet to put over your mat. You can easily make one using your shower curtain.
Take your mat and place the curtain over your mat, and use your scissor to cut out to size. It works great and will protect your mat.
Markers and Pens
This may not be a hack perse- but it’s a great tip! I love using little baskets to help store my tools. The Dollar Tree sells the perfect-sized baskets for this.
They are very similar to more expensive baskets or bins you can find and fit your pens and markers just as well.
Speaking of pens and markers The Dollar Tree does have several different markers and pens you can use and try to experiment with.
Use pencil grip
If you are trying to get one of your pens to work with your Cricut Machine try using a pencil grip! Cut it down the center, pop out tool holder in your machine (that may void your warranty) and then pop it in and put in any marker of your choice and it should work quite well!
Weeding Tools
The Dollar Tree has a variety of tools that can be used as weeding tools. I’ve heard some stores even have some Cricut dupes!
Hair Ties for Vinyl Rolls
If you want a way to hold together your vinyl then this is the hack for you! Any hair ties will work great. They come in packs with several so you’ll have lots to work with. Take a hair tie and wrap it around as many times as you would like.
Cling Wrap for Transfer Tape
I’m not a fan of Cricut’s Transfer Tape which is why I love that I can buy Cling Wrap at the Dollar Tree for cheap and it works even better!
Other people have raved about using shelf and drawer liner paper, too. I have heard it is good because it is sticky and it is good to transfer over the material as well.
Clamps for Vinyl
Craft Clamps work wonderfully for holding down your vinyl or other material to your mat. This works best to secure your vinyl more toward the bottom of your material to avoid running into the mat.
Dish Rack Vinyl Storage
I’m so bummed my Dollar Tree didn’t have this- but it is a hack that I couldn’t leave out! It is totally genius.
If you can find one grab their wire dish rack. Use thread or wire or twine and attaché it to make hooks. Get command hooks to make a vinyl holder for your wall.
I hope that you learned something new with this post! What is your favorite Dollar Tree Cricut hack?
