The DreamBox 2 is the latest crafting organization masterpiece from Create Room. I recently had the chance to check it out and put it to the test. As a loyal user of Create Room products, I was excited to see if it was worth the hype. In this article, I share my thoughts to help you decide if it’s the right time to buy this for you. You can use the code CLARKS to save $100 if you decide it is!
It’s been nearly eight years since my WorkBox 3.0 arrived in my driveway, and I changed my approach to craft room organization.
To say it changed my life may sound dramatic – but it’s true. As a chronically disorganized person, having an incredibly well-designed space to organize all my craft and hobby supplies (rather than the boxes and boxes that filled my house) made a huge difference.
Since then, Create Room was born, and they released The DreamBox, which I was fortunate enough to add to my home. My WorkBox 3.0 has transformed into an organizational space for my lactation business, and the DreamBox houses all my crafting, hobby, and homeschooling supplies.
Last year, Create Room upgraded the DreamBox to the DreamBox 2. As much as I wanted to, I couldn’t justify the expense (and didn’t have the space) for the DreamBox 2. I’ve optimized mine to work well for me, and upgrading didn’t make sense as someone who tries to be frugal!
But that hasn’t stopped me from wanting to check it out in person and share my thoughts with all of you. I know many of you have been on the fence about getting this, and I wanted to give you an honest opinion.
This past week, when I was in Utah, I stopped by the Create Room showroom in Lehi, Utah, and tested the DreamBox 2 so I could share my thoughts on it with all of you. While it may not be something I use in my house currently, I have a much better grasp of what it has to offer—and I hope my review will help you decide if it’s the right time to bring this home to you!
Since writing this post, The DreamBox 3 has been released. It’s very similar to the DreamBox 2, so I think this is relevant still to your purchase! You can use the code CLARKS to get $100 any time (and any special promotions will be applied if they are going on)
Initial Thoughts on DreamBox 2
I don’t think it would be surprising to hear that I loved the DreamBox 2. My experience with my Create Room storage solutions has been fantastic, so it would be a little shocking if I suddenly thought the DreamBox 2 wasn’t great.
At first glance, I didn’t notice any major upgrades, but as I opened the DreamBox 2 and looked around, it was clear that Create Room took feedback from their older models to try to make this an even better solution and piece of furniture. I love companies that listen to feedback and try to improve the overall user experience.
I could tell right away that the options they added to customize your DreamBox experience further were a game changer. One of the things I love about the DreamBox is how you can make it your own, and that’s even more of an option with the DreamBox 2.
Overall, though, it looked mostly the same when I examined it, which called for a deeper investigation!

What’s New
I have already compared the DreamBox versus the DreamBox 2, but I’ll go into more details below based on my experience in the showroom about what’s new with the DreamBox 2.
Legless Table
Hands down, this is the biggest improvement from the DreamBox and WorkBox 3.0. I don’t know if it’s because my brain doesn’t work right sometimes, but I sometimes struggle to set up the table with my DreamBox or to have it stay in the right position when it’s folded up. My husband has had to help me a few times.
The new table design is much easier to set up. You can easily put it up and down with just one hand, and you don’t have to mess around with your legs. This is a much better design for people of all ages and abilities. Plus, I think it just looks a lot sleeker without the legs.
This also gives you more room for your legs and to move around your chair without running into the table legs. I think it’s more handicap accessible this way as well.
More Customizable and More Space
I’ve always found my Create Room products to be customizable to my needs. Still, I love that Create Room has added even more flexibility to move around shelves and offers many ways to make your DreamBox 2 your own.
They’ve designed it to have more storage space available:
More comprehensive center panel for more space and larger accessories/machines
The center panel can be adjusted to fit your machines, accessories, and supplies more efficiently. I would love it if you could raise it to accommodate your larger machines.
Ability to store two larger machines above the table
Side panels that are designed for tall and skinny accessories (such as cutting mats)
Wooden draws that are large and deep
The shelves are on metal pegs rather than the plastic ones, which gives more overall space
As well as options for customization:
The center panel can be adjusted to fit your machines, accessories and supplies more efficiently. I love that you can make it higher to put your larger machines under there.
The area underneath the table can also be adjusted to have more or fewer shelves, depending on what you want/need.
More cord holes throughout so you can use your machines in different places
Adjustable hook shelves and pockets
Light for Everyone!
One of my biggest complaints about the original DreamBox is that it doesn’t come with a great light option. You can upgrade to the crown with lights, but it’s an added expense. My DreamBox is in my basement, and it gets a bit dreary down there.
I love that they have added a light fixture as a standard feature for the DreamBox. This is a huge game-changer. If you need even more light, you can upgrade to the crown with an additional light, which is nice. But I love that it’s no longer just a luxury upgrade but an included feature.
Better Hardware
My husband noted that the hinges on the DreamBox 2 feel a lot more sturdy than the previous models. I think they look a lot more professional as well. The shelving and the slides that they go into seem to be more sturdy as well.
It is also desiged to hold up to 650 lbs of supplies and materials, which is an upgrade from past models as well.
DreamBox 2 Downsides
Cost
This is the main downside to the DreamBox 2 – the cost! Without coupons, the base price is $2,599, which is a lot of money for most of us. The DreamBox 2 is a quality piece of furniture – and it would be a red flag if you could get it cheaply. But the cost does make it more inaccessible for many to purchase.
Create Room has other options, such as the DreamCart (CLARKS50 for $50 off). You may also get an older DreamBox model on the Facebook marketplace. Always be careful with scams, though—if it seems too good to be true, it probably is!

Ease of Movement
One issue I see with my DreamBox and the DreamBox 2 is that it can be challenging to move around if it’s not on a hardwood floor. Ours is on the carpet; even though it has wheels, maneuvering can be tricky. I also feel like you have to put a bit of muscle into opening and closing it, which might be challenging for some people with limited mobility.
DreamBox 2 Specs and FAQs
The DreamBox 2’s dimensions are:
- 6’Hx9.2’Wx3.1’D (when open)
- 6’Hx3.3’Wx4.1’D (when closed)
What is the difference between DreamBox and DreamBox 2?
I’ve already mentioned these above, but the primary differences are:
- DreamBox 2 includes a light, while the DreamBox does not
- There is a legless table that is easier to set with the DreamBox 2
- More options for moving shelving around, more storage
- The price is a little bit more
What is the DreamBox 2 made of?
The DreamBox 2 is made of MDF Wood and made in the United States.
How much does the DreamBox 2 cost?
The base cost for the DreamBox 2 is $2,599, which goes up from there depending on if you add extra accessories, choose the pre-built service, etc. However, they often run discounts and promotions. You can always use the code CLARKS for $100 off
Should I get the pre-built service?
Setting up DreamBox 2 can be pretty time-intensive. My husband put our original DreamBox together it in a couple of hours, but if you don’t have a lot of time or the physical ability to do it, I think it’s well worth it to purchase the pre-built option.
Is there a smaller version of the DreamBox?
Create Room has a few smaller storage solutions than the DreamBox. I don’t have them, but they have great functionality and are much less expensive. They would also be great for smaller spaces.
Accessories
The DreamBox 2 comes with the following accessories:
- Half Tote Package (43 total totes)
- 14 small totes
- 21 small dividers
- 12 medium totes
- 12 medium dividers
- 17 large totes
- 4 rods
- 24 hooks
- 56 tracks
- 24 total shelves
- 10 swing door shelves
- 8 large shelves
- 2 medium shelves
- 4 small shelves
- 24 Hooks
- 4 Rods
- 8 Jars with Acrylic Jars
Beyond that, there are many accessories that you can consider for the DreamBox 2 – I go over all of these in this article about DreamBox Accessories. But a few that I think are worth investing in are:
- Tool Cubby – I love these because they add so much functionality, and you can use them in different places in the DreamBox.
- DreamBox Jars—These are some of my favorite accessories. They are great for storing little crafting supplies and trinkets. I also store popsicle sticks and hot glue sticks without the lids! 16 are included with the purchase of your DreamBox, but I think it’s worth getting more.
- Paper Organizer – Again, this adds an element of organization
Should I Upgrade to the DreamBox 2?
This isn’t an easy question to answer. For me, it doesn’t make sense to upgrade to a DreamBox 2—as much as I want to! My DreamBox is pretty well-organized, and it would take a lot of time to take everything out, sell it to someone, and then set up the new DreamBox. The new upgrades are nice, but they aren’t enough of a game-changer to justify doing it now.
If you have an older model of a Create Room product (such as the WorkBox 3.0), I think there are enough upgrades to make it worth it. If you need more accessibility and flexibility with the shelving and the table, it might also be worth the upgrade.
Finally, if you have the Dream Cart or the Sew Station and you are on the fence, I think you’d be happy with the upgrade. You can still use your Dream Cart or Sew Station with your DreamBox, and it’s going to provide you with even more flexibility and storage space. I love how all the different products work together!
Is the DreamBox 2 Worth it?
My feelings on whether the DreamBox 2 is worth it are the same as they’ve been for all of the craft storage from Create Room I’ve reviewed or used – a resounding YES.
This is an investment. It’s not a cheap piece of furniture, and it’s not something I would recommend going into debt for. However, it’s more than just a pretty piece of furniture. It’s truly designed to make it easier to organize your craft space, launch a business, or manage your home better than ever. I love the small footprint that it offers and how it’s genuinely well-designed. My WorkBox 3.0 has some hinges that don’t work as well as they used to, but it still is very functional – and it was one of the first models.
Even if the DreamBox isn’t in your budget yet, I do love that Create Room has a variety of other products available at lower price points that can still give you some great organizational. I LOVE the DreamCart and the Sew Station. In the showroom, I thought about how much I would love to have the Sew Station in my basement!
