Now, I have to admit this — when it comes to cute decorations, I’m not usually the best. I see things on Pinterest that I think are absolutely adorable, but when I try and do something cute, it often ends up looking like it should be on Pinstrosity! Which is why I was totally thrilled as to how the invitations and decorations turned out. First off, I made two different invitation templates. I ended up using just the second one, but I loved them both and thought I’d share. If you’d like to use these, just send me an email, and I can send it to you customized with your information.
Before you say anything, yes, I realize this invitation isn’t totally centered. We didn’t end up using it, so I didn’t feel any need to correct it. But if you wanted this invite, I would most definitely center it! Anyways, I made this completely in PicMonkey, just using the frames and one of their wacky looking fonts. I just found a picture of the Cat in the Hat somewhere online, and inserted it as an overlay.
For this second one, I just found a cover of the Lorax, used different shape overlays in PicMonkey to cover up the words, and then I edited it in Microsoft Publisher. I used a Dr. Seuss font I found online, which I thought looked awesome! I loved how this invitation turned out.
To be honest, we didn’t do too many decorations, just to keep the stress level to a minimum, but we got blue and red tablecloths, napkins, etc. at Walmart and the Dollar Tree. Diana did find this great tutorial from Martha Stewart to make tissue paper pom poms that turned out great! I wasn’t quite sure at first how they were going to turn out, but I was pleasantly surprised at how nice they looked hung up. We used white, sparkly tissue paper, along with solid red tissue paper, and I think they looked like they came straight out of a Dr. Seuss book. I think these are some of the cheapest decorations you can make! In fact, I think I might make some smaller ones to hang up in Jack’s room one of these days!
I found a bunch of covers from Dr. Seuss books online, and printed 8×10 copies of them out at Costco. We pasted them colorful cardstock, and then punched some holes in the top corners and strung it together with curling ribbon. So simple, but we got a lot of compliments on it.
Finally, I decided to make this cute picture with one of my favorite Dr. Seuss quotes. We had it next to the drink station in a pretty black frame, and Charbel loved it so much, she took it home to put in her son’s room. Feel free to print this here for your own use!
