Several months ago, I started making sourdough bread on a regular basis, and I haven’t looked back.
I feel SO much better when I eat this kind of bread (using a sourdough starter), and it just tastes so delicious.
I have loved coming up with new recipes, and this sourdough pizza crust is our favorite. We have tested it many times, and I think we finally have the perfect recipe for it.
It’s so yummy and easy to make, and we all love it. I am just thrilled I can eat pizza again without getting sick!

What is Sourdough Pizza Dough?
Sourdough pizza dough is one more way to make pizza crust from scratch. You use sourdough starter discard and add it with other simple, classic pizza dough ingredients such as flour, yeast and sugar.
How long does sourdough pizza dough last in the fridge?
You can plan to store your dough in the fridge in a covered container with enough room to allow dough to rise at least 8 hours, and up to 4 days.
Does Sourdough Pizza taste good?
Sourdough pizza is delicious! The crust has a great texture with a slight spring to it. I love how the crust doesn’t turn out too hard- it’s the perfect texture. The flavor of Sourdough Pizza Crust won’t leave a “yeasty” aftertaste like most typical homemade pizza dough recipes.
How to make Sourdough Pizza Dough
Here is what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup starter discard
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Tools:
- For best results use a pizza stone. If you don’t have one, you can use a pan. You will need to cook it for several minutes less.
Instructions:
- Combine all the ingredients above in a stand mixer (or mix together by hand).
- Knead with a dough hook or by hand until dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place in an oiled bowl, cover and let rise until doubled (about four hours).
- After rising, divide into two equal balls
- Preheat oven to 375
- Lightly oil a pizza stone and sprinkle with cornmeal.
- Make pizza crust on stone.
- Prebake for 10 minutes
- Add sauce, toppings and cheese
- Raise temperature to 425.
- Bake for 13-15 minutes

Can I use Fed Sourdough Starter?
Yes, just feed your starter an hour or so before making your dough, omit the dry yeast, and allow rising time for about 12 hours.

Sure! Make sure you double all the ingredients!
How long will pizza stay good in the fridge for?
Cooked and prepared pizza should stay in the good fridge for up to 5 days. Make sure you keep in an airtight container or wrap in foil.
What toppings are good on pizza?
The possibilities are endless! You can’t go wrong with all the options. You can choose to only use cheese or add other ingredients on top.
You can even switch up the red marinara for BBQ Sauce, Alfredo Sauce, Pesto Sauce- or omit the sauce completely.

Can I Make this a Thicker Crust?
Yes! We generally use this recipe to make two thinner crust pizzas, but if you want it to be thicker, you can either just make one thick crust with this recipe, or double it to make two!
